SAFETY OVERVIEW

The NCJJFA Football and Cheer programs are committed to keeping children safe by preventing, recognizing, and responding to situations both on and off the playing field.  All members of NCJJFA – coaches, parents, players, volunteers and Board members – are required to follow a code of conduct that helps to ensure safety.

We're excited to be take part in the USA Football and NFL Heads-Up Football program. As members of this program, we have committed to:

  • Require EVERY coach and board member to complete a nationally accredited youth football coaching education certification.

  • Appoint a certified Player Safety Coach to each team that will train and supervise all coaches in the Heads Up tackling techniques endorsed by the NFL and USA Football.

  • The PSC will also educate all parents and players on player safety.

  • Run practices under the USA Football "Levels of Contact" to focus on learning and reduce the chance for injury.

  • Train all coaches, parents, and players in proper concussion awareness.

  • Ensure that all player equipment is in top condition and each player is properly fitted.

    • Helmets are/will be reconditioned & recertified annually.

  • Perform criminal background checks on ALL volunteers that will be in contact with players.

  • All Head Coaches are First Aid/CPR Certified

  • As part of GEJFA, we utilize their Age/Weight structure in order to place players at the appropriate team level and against players of similar size. Our approach is structured to increase participation opportunities and safety for all players.

GEJFA clubs had already implemented many of these safety standards over past seasons, the emphasis on USA Football Heads Up tackling will enable us to standardize tackle progression techniques across all of the teams and division levels.  Learn more about this program at www.usafootball.com
